The Minecraft community is home to many talented creators, but one name that truly stands out is RobotPants. Known in real life as Wytze Flietstra, this artist from the Netherlands is the mastermind behind the popular Bare Bones texture pack. A skilled 3D designer, his passion for Minecraft inspired him to create custom wallpapers and textures, drawing influence from the official Minecraft trailers.
The Bare Bones texture pack began its journey under the name MCMojang. However, the original title was deemed insufficiently unique, prompting a rebrand. The name Bare Bones reflects RobotPants’ goal of simplifying Minecraft’s visuals to their core essence, without unnecessary embellishments. Remarkably, despite its minimalistic approach, the pack includes animated blocks and items, showcasing a perfect balance between simplicity and functionality. In our testing, all textures were found to be 100% complete and bug-free. It’s worth noting that while the base pack isn’t optimized for PvP modes like BedWars or SkyWars, a specialized PvP add-on is available for download. This add-on is just one of many mod patches and extensions offered in the download section.
Released in May 2017, the Java version of Bare Bones quickly gained traction due to its striking resemblance to official Minecraft trailers. By August 2019, RobotPants expanded its availability to the Bedrock platform, allowing more players to enjoy his distinct artistic style. However, publishing the pack on the Minecraft Marketplace presented a challenge: Microsoft expressed concerns that the textures might be mistaken for official game content. In response, RobotPants decided to release Bare Bones for free on all platforms, including Java, Bedrock, and MCPE. This decision ensures that anyone can enjoy the pack anytime and anywhere—and we highly recommend giving it a try!
RobotPants is also an active member of the Minecraft creator community, following and supporting fellow developers like Ewan Howell, known for the popular F8thful and Black & White texture packs. Both creators regularly release updates, so we encourage you to explore their work and download their projects as well.
